View disk group details

A disk group is a collection of hard drives within the storage system that share the same performance characteristics.

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select STORAGE > Storage Resource.
  3. Select an SRP and click the number next to Disk Groups in the Details panel to open the Disk Groups list view.
  4. Select the disk group from the list and click .
    The following properties display:
    • Name—Name of disk group ; format is : number -- name
    • Type—Technology type for the disk group
    • Speed (RPM)—Disk speed
    • Usable Capacity (GB)—Usable Capacity (GB)
    • Usable Capacity (Hypers)—Usable Capacity (Hypers)
    • Target Usable Capacity (Hypers)—Target Usable Capacity (Hypers) - applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079) only)
    • Number of Disks—Number of disks
    • Available Spare Disks—Number of available spare disks (applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079) only)
    • Total Spare Disks—Total number of spare disks (applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079) only)
    • FBA Usable Capacity (%)—FBA usable capacity
    • CKD Usable Capacity (%)—CKD usable capacity
    • Vendor—Disk vendor
    • Disk Location—Indication whether the disks in the group are internal or external.
    • Reliability State—This property reflects the overall RAID group and device group health - the possible values for the reliability state are:
      • Optimal—All RAID groups in the device group are healthy and there is sufficient available spare capacity to cover any spindle in the device group.
      • NoSpare—All RAID groups in the device group are healthy and there is insufficient available spare capacity in the device group (one or more spindles cannot be covered).
      • Rebuilding—One or more RAID groups in the device group are in a Degraded state, and rebuilding of the degraded RAID groups is taking place (assumes sufficient spare capacity to accommodate rebuilding).
      • NoRebuild—One or more RAID groups in the device group are in a Degraded state and one or more RAID groups in the device group is prevented from rebuilding (due to insufficient spare capacity).
      • Failed—One or more RAID groups in the device group are in a Failed state.
    • RAID Group Summary State—This property reflects the overall RAID group summary state. The possible values for the summary state are: Failed, Degraded, and N/A.
    • Add Capacity State—Add capacity state (applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079) only)
    • Add Capacity Est. time to Completion—Add capacity estimated time to completion (applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079) only)
